Leather Japan 2013 returned to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week to present a designer collective featuring some of the most cutting edge leather fashion, accessories and even a beautiful handbag (Bagittery), for men and women, that has it’s own built in battery pack to charge all of your gadgets when your on the go. Showcased as a presentation, the progressive fashion was positioned in the center of The Box with a four-panel scrim, where Turtle Island performed their brand of Japanese carnival beats, fused with traditional folk music from their native country, complete with an electric punk attitude. The 10-piece band helped to create an exhilarating backdrop to the leather fashion by Sasquatchfabrix and blackmeans. Accessories were also displayed below the models with standouts by the previously mentioned Bagittery by Kenji Amadana and shoes by INI. We caught up with designer, Yudai Tanaka, at the ACE Hotel for the After Party, who designs heels with a twist that caught everyone’s eyes. Take a look at the shots from Leather Japan 2013 above, and watch a performance by Turtle Island below. The entire 8 leading Japanese brands: genten, Blackmeans, Ed Robert Judson, e.m., Hender Scheme, INI, Kenji Amadana and Sasquatchfabrix were featured as part of a team that has support from the Ministry of Economy Trade and industry, who supports global business activities for business owners that aim to enter the global markets. The designs will continue to be featured at Coterie and will be present at two different showrooms for two months to do business for next step.
