It seems as though the younger generations, not having lived (or even born yet) through the heyday of the Disco era have recently become fascinated by the genre.  Newly re-mastered, this four LP box set offers a fantastic time capsule into an era delivered by one off music; pop culture’s ultimate artistic icon, Grace Jones. Diehard Jones fans will delight in the sounds of this treasure and those seeking to discover an era that gave rise to house, techno and EDM will be equally satisfied. The set features a trio of albums released between 1977 and 1979 and includes music from the original LPs as well as an 8-song singles compilation.  Many Grace Jones fans

Grace_Portfoliorecognize her later albums “Warm Leatherette” and “Nightclubbing” and may not be familiar with these that came before however her unique vocal talents in these albums provide a preview to the greatness that was to come in her later work.  My favorite album of the bunch is “Muse” where I feel the sound and style of the cuts feel more mature and consistent with Jones well-known later work and feature songs like “Sinning”, “Atlantic City Gambler” and “On Your Knees”.  Highlights from the other LP’s include “La Vie En  Rose” (Portfolio) & Am I Ever Gonna Fall in Love In New York City” off “Fame”. A not-to-be missed collectors item, this box set is a gem for music lovers and provides an amazing glimpse into a time when Disco was king and a Legend was on the rise.
