Our chat with Editor in Chief, Ed Salvato at The New York Times Travel Show last week was enlightening regarding his savvy digital magazine, ManAboutWorld,  which is the first ever digital downloadable magazine for the gay man. The well curated travel magazine recently featured the 15 Gay Places to Go for 2015. The list included spots like Washington, DC, London, Buenos Aires, Istanbul and Mykonos. We talked to Salvato about a couple of non – obvious spots, Taipei and Lima and what’s hot about these destinations. Watch our video below to see why you need to consider these spots for your upcoming holiday. When asked about how he’s seen gay travel change over the course of the last several years, Salvato was quick to point out that 30, 40 and 50 years ago, gay travel really didn’t exist. The only guides we had were Damron, which has been around for 50 years and later Spartacus.  He went on to say that now a days there is plenty of information and people are traveling out and proud, particularly since 9/11. “Since that point onward we’ve seen destination and cruise companies market to the gays, so now it’s an established gay market segment, that can generate monies for people.” The outreach has increased tremendously, while bloggers and millennials continue to redefine gay travel. One of the best examples would be the gay cruise company, Atlantis which books year round global cruise itineraries booking up the entire ship with gay men.
