Ricardo Seco has been sharing the reality of his Mexico for several seasons at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. His reality is of a combination of Mexican tradition fused with a contemporary understanding of the city. According to Seco it’s, “A sophisticated Mexico that suits well in any place of the world, expressing its roots with pride through simple forms, unique details, textures and shapes, resulting in a personal style where attitude is larger than anything else. This is the Mexico I want to share with you.” “REAL” is the current name given for Seco’s Fall 2015 collection which has evolved every season, but the focus of fusing his love for his indigenous cultural roots with urban metropolitan sensibilities, has proven to be his ‘real’ niche for making his mark in the fashion arena. Luxe leather detailing, urban silhouettes and strategically cut trousers are often fused with indigenous bold black and white patterns, alongside his re-invigorated collaboration with New Balance sneakers. The fusion is sublime especially against his strong adherence towards the color black.
