Progressive Pulse is excited to be hosting the Red Carpet World Premiere of “Baby Jane?” on Tuesday, March 15 at San Francisco’s Castro Theatre.
Stay tuned to our site or check out our March 17 newsletter in which you can see the drag-studded premiere of Billy Clift’s wonderful remake of the Bette Davis and Joan Crawford classic.
We’ve already featured stories on “Baby Jane?” after seeing the film at last year’s San Francisco Gay & Lesbian Film Festival. But now the movie has come home to San Francisco, in the city that celebrates diversity and we hear should-be Oscar winner Matthew Martin and the glorious J. Conrad Frank will be on camera with Clift to talk to us about the film’s journey and future.
We also might see a parade of San Francisco drag stars like Heklina and Ethel Merman on hand at the Castro before the film moves on to screenings in Palm Springs. We’ll talk to Clift about the movie’s hopeful runs in Los Angeles and New York and to learn more about its DVD premiere later in the year.
You can wait to see this all on Progressive Pulse or if you’re in San Francisco, come see it live at the Castro Theatre on March 15.
There’s a VIP reception from 6-7pm, followed by a preshow at 7:30pm which will feature drag performances as well as a musical number from the band ejector singing the film’s title song.
Or if you prefer a night with less fanfare, there’s also a 10pm screening only for $10.
The Castro Theatre is at 429 Castro Street, San Francisco.
